Mr. Leak joined the firm in 2015 as a partner focusing on the defense of medical malpractice and catastrophic injury lawsuits, and on bringing and defending declaratory judgment actions involving insurance carriers. He devoted much of his earlier career to the defense of medical malpractice claims at both the trial court and appellate levels.
Mr. Leak is a Board Certified Specialist in Appellate Law and has a comprehensive appellate practice. He has briefed and argued cases in most of the Ohio appellate districts, in the Ohio Supreme Court, and in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and was lead appellate counsel in several of the seminal Ohio medical malpractice decisions.
Mr. Leak frequently lectures to physicians, lawyers, and law students on appellate issues and recent developments in appellate law. Mr. Leak has also written numerous articles on legal issues of several kinds, including appellate law.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Mr. Leak is Board Certified in Appellate Law by the Ohio State Bar Association. He has also achieved an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbard Law Director. Mr. Leak has been named to The Best Lawyers in America since 2012 for Medical Malpractice Law and selected as an “Ohio Super Lawyer” by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine since 2009.
