On November 1, 1999, nine lawyers formed a new partnership in the practice of law, known as Hanna, Campbell & Powell, LLP (HCP). Each partner of HCP is an experienced and effective trial lawyer who routinely litigates cases in state and federal courts, and before various administrative agencies, including the Bureau of Workers' Compensation and the Ohio Industrial Commission.
HCP lawyers have proven experience and expertise in complex litigation, product liability, wrongful death, toxic tort, medical malpractice, insurance defense, insurance contract and coverage, premises liability, intentional tort, workers' compensation and environmental, business and commercial litigation. The firm represents a wide variety of major public and private clients, including insurance companies, municipalities, physicians, hospitals and companies engaged in manufacturing, retail, interstate transportation and construction. In addition, HCP attorneys serve as national and regional litigation counsel for a number of major corporations.
In the United States, however, there are more than 800,000 lawyers. Many of them may say similar things about themselves. What distinguishes HCP is its substance over form.
This group came together because its members share the same philosophy and commitment to its clients. When we say that HCP partners are experienced trial attorneys, we mean experienced trying cases to verdicts before juries. Collectively, our experience totals nearly 200 years in the practice of law.
We are problem solvers. We believe that our clients seek legal analyses. But in the end, they need practical solutions.
We are in the prime of our careers and believe that responsibility to clients and their legal affairs is a seven day a week job. We are tireless in this commitment. As our clients will tell you, a problem presented at 5:00 p.m. that needs to be resolved that day will be resolved.
We have assembled a staff of more than 50, including attorneys, litigation managers, nurse paralegals, paralegals and legal assistants who are highly skilled and experienced. Our firm's birth and continued growth will focus on skilled professionals. This is a significant divergence in philosophy from the traditional law firm. There is no one "in training" on your work.
HCP is equipped with sophisticated technology enabling us to handle complex matters and high-speed communications. We can access many court records - and even file pleadings and motions - electronically. Most importantly, we have assembled a group of lawyers with good judgment. If you have experience selecting counsel, you know what this means. We believe in listening and learning about our clients. Before we proceed, we make sure that we understand both the problem presented and the client's objective, which may be quite different for two clients with similar problems. We know that it is critical to evaluate cases and issues promptly, establishing a cohesive plan for handling that meets our client's objectives as soon and as cost-effectively as possible.
